Tape Memories

Submission

Tape Memories: Sonic Correspondence is a community-based archival project exploring cassette culture as a form of communication, memory, and survival within Black migrant and diasporic communities in Sweden.

Mixtapes, tape letters, prayers, and recorded voices once crossed borders when people could not. Through these intimate recordings, we gain insight into how Black communities maintained connections to home through sound, storytelling, and shared memory. By supporting this project, you help preserve these stories for current and future generations.

To submit to Tape Memories, you must be an Afro-Swede or a Black person living in Sweden. By Black, we mean people of African and Caribbean descent.
